All of Wake County will be headed to the polls on October 8 or during the early voting period, Sept. 19 – October 4 (see details).
Every ballot (find your sample ballot here) will have at least the School Bond referendum. Four of the 9 board of education districts will have races, and there will be municipal races for Raleigh and Cary.
Our friends at the Wake County League of Women Voters are collaborating with other organizations on Community Candidate Forums for the Board of Education and Raleigh City Council/Mayor. See www.lwvwake.org for the full list of forums.
We, along with the Wake County group of the AAUW Tar Heel Branch have also partnered with the League on a Voter Guide for the Board of Education Election. If you are in one of the districts with a Board of Education race, you can find responses to questions posed by the League to the candidates (seven of the eight candidates responded) by going to vote411.org/ballot and entering your address. If you’re not sure about your district, the system will show that to you based on your address. If your district had an election in 2011, all you’ll see on the Vote411 system will be information about the school bond.
But there are those municipal races. Watch for information on additional forums near you, but if you can’t attend, the NCVoterGuide.org will have additional information on those races posted later this week.
